A tourist resort with a busy fishing harbour in a newly rebuilt harbour just south of Malaga (Spain). Facilities and security are good and whilst certain services are still to be completed, it's possible to berth here.
Warning: the increasing unrest in Morocco led to demonstrations and many arrests in Al Hoceïma and other northern ports in mid-2017. The U.K. Foreign Office has not discouraged tourists but does urge caution.
Moor: on finger pontoons, good shelter
Ashore: water and electricity. Facility block not yet in operation, but adequate toilet and shower in the marina building. No Wi-Fi. Fuel is currently available in the adjacent fishing harbour, although a pump is planned for the marina.
It is a 30-minute steep climb into town or take a small local taxi for very little cost. A big shopping mall in town with a supermarket called "Marjane" which has a good range of provisions. The local Soukh is well worth a visit and a good place to buy fresh produce, meat and poultry.
- explore the Rif mountains by local bus.
- go to Chefchaouen, a 6 hours scenic ride by bus from the bus station.
