Navigation to St Georges will take the best part of a day and in few places the depth is 1.4 m LW - 3 m HW. Currents in the river can be up to 3 kts. Tides at St Georges are about 2½ hours later than Cayenne.
There are numerous anchorage along the way where you can wait for HW to sail:
Ile Biche - 04°06.20N 51°38.80W in 2-3 m
Ilha do Papagaio - 04°02.20N 51°40.17W in 3-5 m
Ilhas Taparabo - 04°01.72N 51°41.33W in 3-5 m and 04°00.27N 51°41.16W in 2-3 m
Ile Mathieu - 04°58.05N 51°45.00W in 3-4 m
Ile Galibis or Diogo - 03°58.05N 51°46.75W in 3-5 m
Tampack (03°56.74N 51°47.06W) - about 4 m north of St Georges, has a floating pontoon (2 m depth) large enough to take a sailboat (alternative anchor in the river and dinghy ashore). Water is available at a public tap a short walk from the jetty (jerry cans). The village is simple and attractive.
St Georges anchorage: in 5 metres in mud by the water taxi jetties (dinghy landing spot).
Fuel: in jerry cans from across the river in Brazil by dinghy or water taxi
The fishing boats along the way are very friendly.
