The lighthouse is the most striking feature of this unusually flat island. Dense scrubs populate the island which provide protection for some rare animals.
The island is located in the National Marine Park (NMPANS http://www.mom.gr/displayITM1.asp?ITMID=617&LANG=EN). It is reported a sunken ancient city east of the island.
Warning: the island is surrounded by a series of shallow islands and shallows, strong currents and cross-seas. Reefs and shallows are far off the shore and sea charts only give the positions very vaguely. This also applies to the area east of the island.
Anchor: in the south, between the riffs and rocky cliffs, there is a bay with a large sand beach and dunes. Look for the sand patches; very good holding. Day trip boats.
