Perhaps due to its indented shoreline with all of its nooks and crevices as well as its beautiful vistas, Canouan has moved from remote to luxury tourism. The resorts and cottages are upscale and a new super yacht marina was open recently in Glossy Bay.
Charlestown Bay at the inner part of the bay (in some charts referred as Grand Bay) is the only tenable anchorage on the island. The inner bay is fringed with reef and is the entry is clearly marked by two buoys.
Anchor: enter between the buoys and turn to port; in 2-4 m, good holding in sand; strong gusts coming off the hills that cause boats to swing in different directions. The anchorage can be uncomfortable in strong NE winds and a northerly swell.
