This is one of the most spectacular islands we have been to, with very lush hills and very inviting for the soul. Vathy has a wonderful 'old Greece' feel. This is the home of Odysseus the main character from the book Odyssey by Homer. Flotillas tend to use the north quay.
Anchor: anchorage is excellent with great holding in 15 ft. of water. The wind here blows very strong from the north around 13:00 hours during the day for a couple of hours but not to worry if your anchor is dug in you will be fine.
Ashore: you will find many restaurants and much provisioning from the many small markets. There is a great bakery where you tie up your dingy. Very helpful port police. Water is available.

Protection from wind directions

Lovely spot, AB supermarket next to the dinghy dock. Very sheltered which must make it very hot in the summer

Vathy is one of our favourite anchorages with good protection, great holding, lot's of space, and many facilities.  There is often a decent chop from the North in the evening so if you take a spot on the town quay be sure to give yourself lot's of scope. Near the AB there is pay laundry for only 4 Euro.

The water from the fuel dock is unusually good.
