Sunday School is a loud, vibrant street party that takes place in Buccoo every Sunday night in the Captain Sand Bar, home of the excellent Buccooneers steel orchestra, who put on a normally brilliant show from nine until around half past eleven in the evening. It is best to go with a knowledgeable local, he will be able to get your food and drink at local rates. If you go by taxi, arrange for the driver to pick you up at a specified time and place. Do NOT take more than the few dollars (beer, rum, and snacks are cheap), as the event can be a magnet for pickpockets.
Goat Race, it was the poor man's equivalent to horse racing. Takes place in nearby Mt Pleasant on Easter Monday and in Buccoo on Tuesday. A second goat race is also held, mid-year, as part of the Heritage Festival. Crab racing is more of a fun sport and takes place between the goat races.
