Facilities for berth holders

The most comfortable marina in the Madeira archipelago, completely sheltered from all wind directions. The marina can get quite full in September/October but berths can be booked in advance. The mooring buoys in the harbour are managed by the marina. The anchorage outside the harbour is only suitable in very calm weather.

  • tidal streams go north-east on the flood and south west on the ebb and can run between 0.5 to 1.25 knots.
  • avoid the sand bank north of the island, Baixo de Nordeste
  • When approaching from the north-east leave the Ilheu de Cima at least 1/2 a mile to starboard before turning to the harbour.

Ashore: shops, cafes and restaurants; no chandler but parts can be by the marina staff from chandlers in Madeira and delivered on the next day's ferry.

Despite it's size, Porto Santo, has a variety of landscapes from jagged rocks to an ancient desert just next to the airport.

Don't miss: the Columbus festival late September -
