The village of Methoni is famous for the Venetian Castle right by the sea.
Anchor: beautiful anchorage and well sheltered. Sandy bottom. Vibrant town.
Ashore: baker and butcher in western main street, after about 400m. Supermarket on eastern main street. Many tavernas around the castle.

Most beautiful anchorage we've seen in the Ionian. The view is awesome on 360°, with mountain islands on one side, scattered houses on the hill on another side, the main village on another and the beautiful old castle and tower on the last side. Just wow! The water is cristal clear.

Seems well protected from all directions except SW.

There are many restorants on the waterfront and they are affordable.

The holding can be difficult as there are numerous patches of weed. But otherwise it's sand.
