Bay north of the harbour has clear water, white sand, good holding and 3 5 metres of water. It is said that a swell rolls in at night but we didn’t test this.

Navionics shows loads of no anchoring signs, but it seems to be permitted. We were checked by the guardia di finanza for boatpapers, insurance and passport ( they wanted only one) and they were alright with us staying here. Good shelter from SE swell.

Good holding in sand and you have plenty of options on the depth, anything from 3.5 onward, we were in 7 to 8m. A bit industrial with some heavy machinery or ship generator noise on a quiet night, not as nice as the anchorage on the other side of Arbatax but very handy for access to the harbour and protection from a swell.
